What to do on Drummond Island
Seasons of change

Spring - Fish and Mushrooms

Walleye02
Scott Bay is noted for its spawning walleye and perch. There is also excellent small mouth and northern fishing. In the spring, starting in April, we have smelt dipping that is outstanding and at the same time we have a perch run that is well known.

During the month of May, about Mother's Day, the famous Morel Mushroom is abundant.  On May 15th the walleye and northern season opens. Lunker walleyes are in great supply and Northerns are also fished very heavily.

The end of May small mouth season opens and fishing is good as it can get. Fish over 4 pounds are caught and limit catches are common.

Summer - Hike and Bike

During the months of June and July the flowers are in bloom and fishing is excellent for all species.  Walleye, northern pike, small mouth bass, catfish and one pound sunfish are plentiful.

Around the 4th of July the Cisco run at the Island is very well appreciated by many people who enjoy catching this fighter.  They are delicious when smoked.

The weather on the Island during the months of July and August is warm and normally dry. An excellent time for a vacation to fish, hike or ride your bicycle. Walleye fishing in the warmth of August is supreme and limit catches are frequent.

Autumn - Color tours are great

Fall Colors02
The month of September is by far the most beautiful time of the year. The leaves are changing colors and the view is really breathtaking.

Our pike fishing is at its peak during this month. The fall perch run is underway and gets better as the weather cools.

Small game season now opens for grouse, woodcock and fantastic snowshoe rabbit hunting.  There is a lot of room to hunt as 55% of the Island is State Land.

About the 1st of September the perch run is reaching its peak and will remain as such through November. The colder the weather the bigger and better the fishing. For sure, Northerns abound as they are also feeding on the schools of perch.

Ducks and geese arrive

We're now in the month of October and fishing and hunting are at their best. Perch are large and numerous, ducks and geese are plentiful. We offer the best places to hunt waterfowl in the Midwest.

Bow deer season opens on the 1st of October. Deer hunting on the island either by bow or rifle is excellent.

We continue on with the snowshoe rabbit hunting in October, that sport remains a favorite by many. The month of October offers so much for the sportsmen here at Arnold's Landing that reservations are necessary. Beautiful colors, excellent fishing and hunting makes it the most popular time of the year.

Big bucks taken

Whitetail Deer02
During the month of November the hunting season really gets going. With the rut on, the bow hunting for big bucks takes off. Many a person enjoys a scrape hunting season during this time.

The rifle season opens on the 15th of November and continues through the end of the month. There are some large deer taken during rifle season. Our resort is located near thousands of acres of State Land.

Comforts of Home

The Island has a 9 hole and an 18 hole golf course. Also a bowling alley, museum, 2 grocery stores with fresh meats, 5 restaurants, Moose Lodge, and many souvenir shops. As you have learned you can be kept quite busy on the Island.  All of your shopping needs can be met right here.

There is also a paved runway for you to use at the airport. We here at Arnold's Landing would be glad to pick you up and bring you to the resort.
